In the early 1860's, the Mt. Lebanon Shakers designed a line of chairs sized specifically for those who were to use them, ranging from the No. 0, for infants, up to the No. 7, for large-sized adults. The No. 5 size was intended for use as a dining chair. The backposts are bent to the rear and the back rails are generously curved, so that the back "fits" a person - tall or short - perfectly.
 
We reproduce the No. 5 Tape Back Shaker Side Chair in superior grades of clear cherry and hard maple. Height of back is 40 3/4". Height of seat 17 1/2". Width 20 3/4". Depth 17 1/8".
 
Shown in clear cherry with a hand-rubbed Oil and Wax Finish; woven in 5/8" Black and 5/8" Olive Green Shaker chair tape in a herringbone pattern.
 
We offer the taped seats in over a dozen colors.  Please contact us after ordering to choose your color(s).  
 
This chair is made to order.  We are able to change dimensions slightly if necessary and you have your choice of tape colors.
